About Me 2017-12-15T12:20:13+00:00

Everyone wants to be heard. I believe that each of us longs to address our feelings fully and completely, but many of us feel alienated from ourselves, fearful of rejection or doubtful that anyone will listen. When I was a teenager, the people close to me held high hopes and dreams for me and did all they could to offer me the best life possible. But, some of them did not have fulfilling, rich lives of their own. As I grew up, I saw people settling for something short of happiness. Today, I know that no one has to lead an unfulfilling life. With the powerful tools and skills that are available to us today, it is possible to not only completely like and believe in yourself, but also foster healthy relationships with others in order to achieve happiness.

Before I made the career transition that led me to this new understanding of life’s possibilities, like so many others, I wasn’t sure how to create a satisfying life. I worked hard in school and earned my first degree in business administration. I soon found that working for large corporations was not suited to my personality and values, and I started looking for something else that satisfied me not only as a career woman, but also as a human being. I know firsthand how difficult it can be to discover your path in life. Thankfully, when I first started my career as a practicing therapist, I fell in love with the people and the work. Therapy is my passion and my calling. It’s an honor to offer counseling services that help my clients clear negative feelings, develop greater self-compassion and find lasting relief.

In addition to serving those struggling with eating disorders and poor body image, I also specialize in trauma therapy, anxiety therapy, depression therapy and couples counseling. I often work with people who know they are suffering from or dealing with issues in their relationships without knowing why. Many of us carry unresolved trauma from our pasts that weighs us down and gnaws away at our sense of security, confidence and stability. But, we don’t have to live with shame and hopelessness. By getting to the root of trauma, it is possible to find solutions, create positive change and see the world as the beautiful place that it is.

With nearly 30 years of professional experience, I am a seasoned specialist who is dedicated to serving my clients. In my practice, I utilize mindfulness therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and, since 2012, Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT). Rapid Resolution Therapy is a new, effective and efficient form of therapy that can help you resolve deep-seated issues in just a few sessions, with lasting benefits. I am also constantly deepening my understanding of these modalities while seeking out and practicing cutting edge treatment methods and skills that can bring my clients profound relief.

In sessions, I am down to earth, warm and nonjudgmental. I’m always ready to go the extra mile, meet clients where they are and create an individualized treatment plan that addresses and supports particular needs, experiences, personalities and therapy goals. I strive to see the world though my clients’ eyes so that I can understand what they’re going through and collaborate with them to find solutions. As we work together, I can help you investigate your feelings, accept them without self-judgment, clearly communicate your needs and feel appreciated and heard. You can develop tools that can help you discover and express your best, most authentic self.

As a therapist and an individual, I also focus on the importance of the mind-body connection. In our society, we take the ailments and injuries of our bodies very seriously. When we break an arm, we go to the doctor. It is essential that we take the wounds and pains of our minds and hearts just as seriously. Our physical health is shaped by our mental health, and vice versa. Taking care of both our minds and our bodies is key for a lighter, more engaged existence. Our days are full of challenges, but when we adopt healthy habits that tend to our interconnected needs, we can prepare ourselves for life’s greatest challenges. In sessions, when appropriate, I will encourage you to try healthy bodily activities, such as practicing yoga and adopting a nurturing diet.

In my own life, I practice what I preach. Exercise and nutrition are very important to my wellbeing and happiness, and I particularly enjoy hiking and going to the beach. I am also a great supporter of and advocate for my son, who lives with autism. It is my goal to provide a positive environment for both of us. My journey and my clients have transformed my perception and taught me great compassion and respect for what my close family members had to go through and what they accomplished in their own lives. Now I think of them with all the love and respect that they deserve. It is my passion to achieve happiness and fulfillment in my life and to help those around me do the same.

My office is a comforting and private space located near beautiful lakes. I do my best to make myself available to my clients when they need me. You don’t have to struggle alone anymore. No matter what you’re going through, my holistic approach can help you clear away the trauma, sadness and fear blocking your way to happiness. You can free yourself from negative feelings, honor your experience and feel a new sense of balance and freedom. Therapy truly can transform your life.
